Three Types Of Clothing Stains And How To Get Rid Of Them

It has happened to the best of us: we get a stain on our clothes, be it from food or anything else, and our first thought is to replace the garment or remove the stain. However, this can often be easier said than done. Many of us will find that simply scrubbing with soap and water is not enough to remove stains from clothing. In this article, we share with you some common types of clothing stains and how you can go about with stain removal.

Juices

Fruit juice is a common problem for many of us, particularly because we drink it daily. The good news is that fruit juice stains can be removed somewhat easily. After spilling juice on your garment, rinse it with cold water to get as much as the stain out as possible, avoiding scrubbing the area. After which, get some detergent that contains enzymes, don a pair of gloves, and rub it over the stained area. Let it rest for 20 minutes before dropping your garment into the washing machine on a hot cycle.

Grease

If you cook often, chances are, you are no stranger to grease stains on clothes. The secret to grease stain removal is a dish detergent. The first step is to hold the stained area under running water and try to remove as much grease as you can. After that, apply dish detergent and work it around the area with a soft toothbrush. Rinse off the soap and if you find that the stain has not been removed completely, you will want to try applying a stain remover and allowing it to sit for 15 minutes. Drop your garment into the washing machine on a hot cycle without washing off the stain remover.

Blood

Acting fast is the key when you get blood on your clothes. Firstly, soak the garment in cold water while trying to rub out as much blood as possible. If the water turns pink, replace with fresh water immediately. Rinse the garment and squeeze out the water before applying detergent or stain remover on it. After allowing it to soak, rub the garment against itself to get out the stain. All you need to do after that is machine wash the garment on a regular setting.
